The girls of Cavigal Nice Basket were honored yesterday by receiving the city medal from the hands of Christian Estrosi.
After a perfect season, the girls of Cavigal Nice Basket were received by the mayor Christian Estrosi. Winners of the French Women’s Cup Trophy last month, the Niss’Angels repeated their success this weekend by winning the title of French National 1 Champion. This was achieved by triumphing in the final match against the Saint Paul Reze basketball club (70-64). It was the culmination of a perfect season from its beginning to its end.
By finishing first in their group, the basketball players of Nice Cavigal had a high standard to maintain during the final phases. This was accomplished with five victories in six matches.
These results were a source of pride for Christian Estrosi: “Ladies, you have made the city’s colors shine throughout the season […] This is a magnificent title for the Cavigal and its history, dear to the people of Nice. In three years, the basketball section of Cavigal has had a remarkable journey.” These are significant words knowing that the Niss’Angels were still in the Women’s League five years ago.
Now the girls of Cavigal Nice Basket will compete in Women’s League 2 next season with the goal of continuing their momentum. And why not dream of a promotion to the elite league.
