Carros: Charles Scibetta’s involvement in a right-wing list for the departmental elections is causing instability in the municipal majority.

Latest News

In our previous article from January 21st, we commented that the electoral ticket of Dominique Estrosi-Sassone and Charles Scibetta (mayor of Carros) had sparked discussions regarding the participation of the latter, labeled as a “man of the left,” alongside the neo-senator from Nice, considered a “woman of the right.”

His attempt to declare himself as an “independent within the departmental majority” could not succeed due to its contradiction: Either one is independent, or one is part of a majority, which at least implies de facto adherence.

Victorious in the municipal election against the socialist-affiliated candidate Christine Charles, at the helm of a civic list strongly linked to the left, this “paso doble” (one step to the left, one step to the right) could not go without consequences.

It might still be acceptable to become, in the wake of his election, Vice-President of the Metropolis within a predominantly right-majority for the primary interests (project funding) of Carros, but to run in an election under these same colorsโ€ฆ

Does the statement from the elected officials who identify with the Left Front (imagine that!) and EELV signal the end of the beautiful dynamic that Charles Scibetta, whose value is undeniable, has managed to instill in his adopted city?

If no other consequence is anticipated, it seems evident that within the Carros majority, nothing will be the same as before.

Letโ€™s be clear: the problem is not Charles Scibetta’s “communist” pastโ€”because the past is the pastโ€”but rather the present!

In politics, “transformism” has never been the best way to avoid criticism.

Summary statement from the elected officials Ester Aimรฉ (Left Front), 7th deputy, Jean Cavallaro (LF), 2nd deputy, Michel Cuoco (Europe Ecology Greens), 4th deputy; Patricia Franco (LF), 3rd deputy; ร‰liane Gastaud (LF) and Colette Legrand (LF), municipal councilors.

“During the last municipal elections, we were elected on the ‘A New Momentum for Carros’ list, which was without political affiliation, strong in its diversity, its components, and respecting the values represented by each individual.”

“The mayor’s candidacy in the departmental elections on a UDI-UMP list forces us to take a stand and now allows us to more openly engage with our own values,”

“We do not share the political orientations of this engagement and wished to make it known.”
