During the Metropolitan Council that took place on the morning of June 27, the mayor of Nice and President of the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis made a resounding announcement.
Even though the Covid-19 epidemic is no longer making headlines as it did for over 2 years, a seventh wave is currently hitting France.
The statistics from the past seven days show a national average of nearly 60,000 cases per day. In the Alpes-Maritimes, the situation is also worrisome with an incidence rate that has once again exceeded 500 cases per week per 100,000 inhabitants, which represents an increase of almost 27% over the last 7 days.
Christian Estrosi, the mayor of Nice and President of the Metropolis, reacted to this epidemic rebound during the metropolitan council. He has already announced that the Palais des Expositions would quickly be converted back into a vaccination center and that an awareness campaign would be relaunched targeting the most vulnerable individuals. But the biggest announcement from Christian Estrosi is the probable return of the vaccination pass: “I have information that the vaccination pass could be reactivated on August 1st.”
