“One for all, all for one” is the concept of the collective “a concert hall in Nice.”
Composed of a majority of non-profit associations under the 1901 law, numerous local bands, and also motivated volunteers, the newly formed association, structured around statutes without an office, reveals a united team that defends, with one voice, the recurring need for a medium-capacity venue that is financially accessible for organizing concerts and artist exchanges.
The collective aims to be a constructive and legitimate force for claims, as who better than these experienced enthusiasts understands the constraints related to organizing shows?
After the winter shutdown of the Théâtre de Verdure and the inability of the 700-capacity Nikaia hall to meet the need, associations had to utilize all possible spaces, such as pubs which remarkably stepped in while waiting for a better solution.
According to general opinion, this “better” could not come without a fundamental movement. The idea of creating a collective is not very innovative as there have been others that did not last. What changes today is the energy and diligence of its active members, in addition to the affirmed willingness of public authorities to support this movement.
No less than 6,000 signatures were collected on the petition circulated in May and June 2005, and the first meeting was notably attended by the Director of the Culture Department of the City of Nice. He declared himself attentive and ready to support, as best he could, all initiatives in favor of cultural promotion in our city, within his capabilities.
This promise was held and also supported by the Director of the Events Service, who actively contributes to the project “a tour of shows in Nice,” promising to be a positive collaboration.
Indeed, the first event from the collective, set to launch in March, is a traveling festival across various stages like the Lino Ventura Theatre, the CEDAC of Cimiez, the Forum Nice Nord, and the 700-capacity hall of Nikaia spread over two weeks, with a focus on local artists. The program has not yet been made public but will certainly be announced on NP (Nice Premium).
A united youth building, in the right direction, an edifice for all generations, this is an association to follow.
