Dare to Embrace Youth: Childhood at the Heart of Departmental Policy

Yesterday, the Department launched the first edition of the information day on the offerings for children and youth at the Palais Sarde.

After a morning reserved for meetings and exchanges between professionals in the sector, associations welcomed the public in the afternoon and presented practical and interactive workshops to facilitate families’ daily lives.

The presence of three players from OGC Nice, Pierre Lees-Melou, Wylan Cyprien, and Ihsan Sacko, for a signing session attracted an additional audience.


During his visit, President Charles Ange Ginรฉsy reiterated that the department is a leading player in child welfare and mentioned some figures: 258 childcare facilities and 3,896 childminders for nearly 20,000 childcare spots.

With a budget of โ‚ฌ106.6 million in 2018 (including over โ‚ฌ20 million for the payroll of family assistants), child welfare is one of the most important aspects of the departmental policy.

At the heart of this initiative, fully mobilized, are professionals practicing all trades necessary for competence in the field, such as social workers, family assistants, specialized educators, psychologists, doctors, nurses, childcare workers, midwives, social and family economy advisers, administrative staff, โ€ฆ comprising:
๏‚ท 104 agents at the headquarters of the Alpes-Maritimes Department,
๏‚ท 230 PMI agents across the five local territories,
๏‚ท more than 700 field professionals in MSD,
๏‚ท and 350 family assistants.

There are places in institutions for young people whose parents are temporarily unable to handle daily life or upon referral by the judiciary and 654 foster care places under the responsibility of family assistants approved by the Department and specially trained at IESTS,
