The 5000 flowers intended for the Battle of Flowers scheduled for January 17, 2010, on the Promenade des Anglais must have appreciated their second life. Due to unfavorable weather conditions preventing the event from taking place, the city decided to offer the fresh flowers to 7 residences for the elderly. Thus, retirement homes like Anciens Combattants, Saint Augustin, and Fornero Mene were able to spontaneously organize a floral workshop. “It was a great surprise,” enthused the Director of the Anciens Combattants home. “The flowers were delivered in bulk, and we made bouquets in the common areas,” she added.
To compensate for the cancellation of the Battle of Flowers, 5 tons of mimosa were also offered to the crowd present on the Promenade des Anglais. A lovely initiative…
