Food Fiction: a unique way to experience cinema on the French Riviera

This event production company has been organizing immersive cinema experiences since October 2024. This summer, the programming includes open-air cinema, but also live broadcasts of sporting events such as the football world cup. However, these friendly gatherings stand out in many ways and could interest residents of the Côte d’Azur seeking something new.

Food Fiction’s original concept

“Bringing cinema where it’s least expected“: this is the challenge that Food Fiction has taken on. The goal is always to choose a prestigious, heritage or unusual location to organize a screening while offering tastings. Moreover, the organizers always ensure that the cinema programming is “aligned with the location’s DNA“. Manager Benjamin Julien Montoya explains: “The Nice Côte d’Azur Observatory is a scientific place, so we will project science fiction or astronomy films“.

Beyond that, Food Fiction also wanted to offer a different experience from what already existed and to satisfy a wide audience, whether a family with children or a group of colleagues. “Cinema deserves to be honored“, affirmed the founder. Thus this summer presents a wide programming with cinema evenings, live broadcast of the world cup, the F1 grand prix but also live concerts. These events will take place in places such as Neptune Beach, the Maybourne, as well as the Observatory and registration can be done directly from the Food Fiction website.

A strong link with the Côte d’Azur

Additionally, Food Fiction is greatly inspired by the Côte d’Azur. Indeed, the company collaborates with establishments (hotels, restaurants…), heritage sites (Bellet castle, Bethel Church, Observatory…) and regional artists. “The idea is to have local actors work together and create synergies between them“, clarifies the manager.

Furthermore, the organization views our French Riviera as a true “laboratory stimulating creativity […] it’s always interesting to learn more about the history of our region and the places that make it up.” It is committed to respecting the locations and their values at each event. For example, during evenings at the Bethel Church, even though it is a desacralized place, it always broadcasts films with gentle ideals such as Sister Act or The Pursuit of Happyness.

This approach thus contributes to further anchoring Food Fiction’s events in the local cultural fabric.

Thus this summer, residents of the Côte d’Azur will be able to discover new ways to entertain themselves in attractive locations. For example, on Friday, July 17, there will be two screening sessions at the Observatory. The first will highlight the film Back to the Future. For the second, the public will be able to vote for either Interstellar or The Martian. This will enrich the entertainment options for both residents and visitors.
