Despite the health crisis, the communication BTS from the Lycée du Parc Impérial has released its 2021 calendar. This year, the theme “Future or not future” is highlighted for a calendar that combines boldness and reflection.
What is it? That is the question posed and signified in each visual through an imaginative graphic pointing to an object, a shape, an animal, a trace, or a person. A long-term project has come to an end. While the concept began to take shape in October 2019, it is at the end of 2020 that the calendar is finalized. The idea of this futuristic theme takes form from the first consultations, there is a real intention behind this calendar to make the public think as Claire Verani, the project’s press officer, explains: “We thought that the futuristic theme, the imaginations of the future were interesting, we wanted to pose a question about the boundary between the future and the present.” What could be the future consequences of our present?
Behind this sought-after and innovative 2021 calendar, a small group of 6 students from the Lycée du Parc Impérial. Two graphics per person, the challenge is met for these communication students. Under the guidance of Mr. Alves, a reference within the establishment, the graphic design process takes place. A step-by-step work, a creation on “Photoshop”, corrections, then the climax, the moment of the photo shoot with the partner photographer: “It’s a decisive moment, we show the photographer the idea we want to convey. It’s a big day, everything must be prepared, it’s a lot of organization.” says the student over the phone.
With constraining conditions due to Covid-19, the project finalization comes to an end after some adjustments. A thoughtfully crafted and intelligent calendar, the students did not do things halfway.
January then February, hostilities are launched
While calendars succeed one another at the Lycée du Parc Impérial, the theme “Future or not future” was initially a gift for the school’s partners, but also for the essential actors in the students’ learning. “We send the calendar to our partners, our photographer, but also to the companies that take our students for internships to thank them,” indicates Claire Verani, a key figure in the calendar.
On the first visual intended for the first month of the year, the graphic reveals a woman from behind probably about to get married. A technological button at the nape of the neck with a man’s finger ready to press. “Programmed to love” is the first questioning of January. At stake, the advances in robotics with the notion of feelings coming into play. A relevant reflection. In China, an individual has united for life with a robot. Is he capable of developing feelings? Can a human fall in love with a robot? That is the question.
As February began not long ago, the current subject leaves one perplexed. The role of surveillance cameras, your life controlled by companies, this questioning foretells explosive debates on the presence of surveillance videos. The world is evolving, a range of reflections occurs. Throughout this exciting calendar, several themes will unfold, identified observations but one thing remains uncertain, it is obviously the future.
