I’M ON THE MOVE… OBJECTIVE OPEN TENNIS NICE COTE D’AZUR 2012 aims primarily to allow socially and professionally active men and women to participate in the VIP Open Tennis Nice Côte d’Azur 2012 tournament. To involve the residents of the City of Nice in enhancing their community, this sporting challenge is targeted at men and women who, due to a lack of time and support, do not always have the opportunity to engage in physical activities under the best conditions.

2012 FEATURE

The theme this year is friendship. The tournament will be played in doubles (2 men, 2 women, or mixed), with each double forming a duo with a beautiful friendship story.

The Nice City Hall, hereinafter referred to as “the organizing authority,” with headquarters located at 5 rue de l’Hôtel de Ville – 06364 NICE CEDEX 4, organizes the “I’m on the Move with the City of Nice and Christophe PINNA” operation. The purpose of this operation is to allow socially and professionally active men and women to participate in the VIP Open Tennis Nice Côte d’Azur 2011 tournament.
The administrative and organizational management is entrusted to the Sports Eventment Service of the City of Nice.

  • Link events, sports, and heritage for the people of Nice.
  • Raise awareness among the people of Nice about the City’s events.
  • Provide a privileged welcome and promote the Open Nice Côte d’Azur.
  • Offer the city a sporty and dynamic image.
  • Communicate differently around tennis.

THE OPEN TENNIS NICE COTE D’AZUR 2012 will take place from Sunday, May 20 to Saturday, May 26 inclusive.

This ATP tournament will be held on the courts of the Nice Lawn Tennis Club located at 5, avenue Suzanne LENGLEN in Nice.

The selection process will be in two stages:

First, 16 teams (32 candidates) will be selected from the application forms, based on their deep motivations and friendship ties.

Secondly, during the training sessions, an evaluation-elimination system will be implemented by Christophe PINNA. Matches will be conducted and the two teams with the most points will meet in the final. In case of a tie, an additional match will determine the finalists.

  • reside in Nice
  • be between 18 and 65 years old
  • have a maximum ranking for men of 30/1 on the day of registration
  • have a maximum ranking for women of 15/5 on the day of registration
  • never have been ranked in the second series
  • commit to being present at all training sessions
  • commit to being present during the tournament
  • commit to being present for the final if applicable

Participation is free and constitutes full and complete acceptance of the provisions of this regulation. Non-compliance with the conditions will result in the nullity of participation.

The organizing authority reserves the right to request any supporting documents proving that the candidate fulfills the conditions allowing participation.

Registration will be exclusively via the City of Nice website, www.nice.fr, until Friday, January 27 at 3:45 PM.

Any registration received after the aforementioned date and time will not be valid.

The selected candidates will be informed by email.

The selected candidates must provide a medical certificate less than one year old indicating no contraindication to playing tennis in competition at the first training session.
Participants must have all their tennis equipment (clothing, tennis shoes for clay, racket…). Balls will be provided by the Nice L.T.C. club.

Four gatherings are planned in total, in addition to the VIP Open Tennis.

Training sessions are scheduled for Sundays for more availability from participants as well as tennis lessons.
Four double tennis courts are needed and graciously provided by Nice L.T.C. Two additional singles courts can be provided for warm-up and in case a team withdraws.
The sessions will include general physical preparation, specific physical preparation, exercises on technical gestures, themes, technical tests, dietary advice, etc.

Personalities from the world of entertainment, music, and sports may be invited to participate in this tournament. There might be a team composed of the Mayor of Nice and the director of the ATP tournament “Open Tennis Nice Côte d’Azur 2012” present.

Candidates will be offered invitations to the stands for the Open Tennis by the City of Nice. A lunch or dinner, possibly attended by the Mayor of Nice, is planned for the final day of the VIP Open Tennis Nice Côte d’Azur 2012.

A photo report will be produced during the VIP Open Tennis Nice Côte d’Azur 2011 and given as a souvenir to participants.

Subject to modification, the training sessions will take place in the afternoons on the following dates and times:

– Sunday, February 19 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM: training 1
– Sunday, March 11 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM: training 2
– Sunday, April 8 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM: training 3
– Sunday, May 6 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM: training 4
– Friday, May 25 starting at 7:00 PM: VIP Open Tennis Nice Côte d’Azur 2011 final followed by the officials’ dinner and awards ceremony

The regulation is established considering the fun aspect but also in a concern for controlling the playing time.

  • 16 double teams, 32 players (2 pools of 8)
  • The match is played in 45′ (whistle blow)
  • The ongoing game must be completed after the whistle blow
  • No-Ad at 40 A. This means there is no advantage/deuce; the decisive point is played.
  • The Tie Break is at 6/6

The winning team of the match scores 4 points. The losing team scores 1 point. In case of a tie, each team scores 2 points. Absent teams score 0 points.

  • 2 winning sets
  • No-Ad at 40 A. This means there is no advantage/deuce; the decisive point is played.
  • The Tie Break is at 6/6

The organizing authority cannot be held accountable if, in case of force majeure, events beyond its control, or justified necessity, it is compelled to modify and/or cancel the training dates.
Similarly, it cannot be held responsible in case of cancellation or change of date of the Open Tennis Nice Côte d’Azur 2012.
If there is any delay in receiving electronic registration forms, the organizing authority cannot be held responsible for the consequences.

Participants cannot claim any compensation whatsoever for the facts mentioned above. In case of failure to comply with a provision of these rules by a participant, the organizing authority reserves the right to exclude them outright, without being able to claim any compensation.

INDIVIDUAL ACCIDENT

The organizing authority recommends all participants without personal insurance covering their bodily injuries to take out insurance
