After the success of the Nice Marathon in November 2010, when 12 women’s teams (each consisting of three athletes) achieved the feat of running the “legendary” 42km195 in a relay, the J’BOUGE program is back with the slogan “EVERYONE ON THE CHRISTOPHE PINNA COURSE ON MAY 20 AND 21” on the occasion of the 2011 Tennis Open.
Christophe Pinna, former world karate champion, whose municipal mission is to promote sports FOR ALL and BY ALL, aims to develop a true sports culture to raise awareness and involve the people of Nice in major sporting events in Nice.
Christophe Pinna and a jury selected, after several rounds, 16 players (8 doubles) to participate in the VIP Open de Tennis Nice Côte d’Azur 2011 (celebrities being counted among the 16 players).
These players were selected during training sessions, through an evaluation-elimination system implemented by Christophe Pinna himself.
Training sessions have been held one Sunday per month, since February, at Nice LTC. The tournament will take place on Friday, May 20, on the annex courts, and the final will be held on Saturday, May 21, at 10 a.m. on the central court ahead of the doubles final scheduled for 12 noon.
Christophe Pinna: “I am very pleased to see how things are progressing. There is a great atmosphere, and the players are enjoying a wonderful experience, first and foremost sporting but also fun and social. With my working group, we try to create small surprises at each training session and will continue to do so until the end, in order to maintain a fun atmosphere…”
“I have to curb too much enthusiasm and commitment from some participants. Undoubtedly, the prospect of playing the final on the central court in front of a large audience might have disturbed their peace of mind!!!” concludes Christophe Pinna, visibly satisfied with this new venture.
