On this International Day of Women’s Sport, the Aiglonnes hosted Metz in an attempt to bounce back after two consecutive defeats.
As reigning French champions and currently the leaders of the standings, the Metz team impresses with their consistency. Only Brest, just one point behind, seems able to challenge them, and rightfully so: The Rebels handed Metz their first defeat of the season in the Women’s League… It was therefore an angry team that traveled to Nice. Quite a challenge for the Azur team, lingering in the mid-table (10th) and whose comeback seems complicated since the start of the year.
The Azur team quickly overwhelmed
After a difficult first half where the Aiglonnes barely made an impact (8-22) against the visitors led by Hatadou Sako (6 saves from 14 shots), the rest of the game was somewhat more balanced. Better organized, Clément Alcacer’s squad put up more resistance against Metz, but it wasn’t enough to create an upset. Final score: 20-37.
The OGC Nice Handball team can be seen next Wednesday in the quarterfinals of the Coupe de France as they take on Dijon.
