Inauguration of the New Premises of the SOS Academic Success Association
The Moulins district is undergoing a large-scale urban renewal operation until 2016, with ambitions to: open up the district, create an East-West axis crossing through it, renovate public spaces, diversify and improve housing, develop services and facilities, promote employment, strengthen the efforts of associations, and revitalize businesses.
As part of the district’s renovation, the complete demolition of buildings 33 and 34 and partial demolition of building 35, which includes the Yuccas shopping gallery, are planned. The partners in this operation have found a relocation solution for the SOS Academic Success Association, whose premises were located in building 35.
The owner of the premises, Cรดte dโAzur Habitat, vacated a space in building 13 on rue des Mahonias (previously used for archive storage) and refurbished the premises (completely redone flooring, upgraded electricity and plumbing, new lighting, safety measures, etc.) at a cost of 47,000 euros including tax. The Mรฉtropole Nice Cรดte dโAzur undertook specific arrangements and covered the moving costs for a total of 27,900โฌ including tax.
SOS Academic Success is now located in a more functional 160mยฒ space. The beneficiaries of this tutoring association thus have a quiet place to study, a computer room, and a suitable learning environment.
The association is approved by the Ministry of National Education as a complementary educational association for public education. Its objective is to promote the success and social integration of children and young people in the Saint-Augustin district. It is chaired by Marguerite Desplanques and directed by Jean-Gilbert Mbiye.
