From April 14th at 4 PM to April 15th at 4 PM, the “24H Eric Satie” event will take place at the Entrepôt de Monaco (22 rue de Millo). During this event, pianist Nicolas Horvath will perform VEXATIONS, and painter Andrea Clanetti Santarossa will create 3 artworks based on the 840 scores.
Erik Satie’s Vexations (1893) consist of 840 performances of a musical fragment of 152 notes. Depending on the tempo chosen by the performer (Satie only indicates “Very slow”), this fragment can last between approximately 50 and 100 seconds, which brings the total performance time of the Vexations to between 12 and 24 hours. This duration constitutes a true challenge for the performer, who is subjected to a requirement of extraordinary endurance and concentration.
This performance will be held for the benefit of the Nuit des Associations. The entrance fee is €20, of which €10 will be donated to Japan.
