Since its creation over 20 years ago, the VSArt (Volunteering and Support through Art) association has been dedicated to improving the living conditions of people in situations of moral, physical, or material fragility by giving them access to culture and art through varied and original actions. In Nice, the association particularly focuses its efforts on children from so-called “sensitive” neighborhoods.

The goal of VSArt volunteers: to facilitate access to art for young people, to appeal to their intelligence, sense of observation, and critical thinking, to evoke emotions in them, to encourage them to create, and to empower them by organizing an event.

This year, children from several leisure centers in Nice (Agora Nice Est, Espace Soleil, Epilogue, La Semeuse, CEAS Espace Famille du Vallon des Fleurs) and residents of the Héléna retirement home have had the opportunity to visit museums, meet artists, and familiarize themselves with art. They then created their own works (drawings, sculptures, collages, etc.).

More than 400 children and adults have been involved in this action, partially funded by the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropole with an amount of 1,400 euros as part of the Urban Social Cohesion Contract.

The “budding artists” are presenting their exhibition until June 9, featuring works created around the theme “Ships, navigation, navigators.”
