For the 7th consecutive year, “Cโest pas classique” offers a vibrant program that will delight both young and old. Faced with ever-growing success, the 2011 edition includes an additional evening. Thus, from November 24 to 27, 2011, the General Council of the Alpes-Maritimes and Nice Cรดte dโAzur offer a hundred free concerts to introduce classical music to all audiences.

On the occasion of the interactive concert on Thursday, November 24, organized at the Nice Opera, Philippe Auguin, a brilliant conductor, accompanied by the Nice Philharmonic Orchestra, will engage in a completely “not classical” exercise by handing over his conductorโs baton to the winners of the draws at the end of his performances.

Saturday, November 26, at 2 PM and 4 PM, the Company La Rumeur will animate Garibaldi and Massรฉna squares.
Sunday, November 27, at 3:45 PM, at Notre-Dame-du-Port Church, the Nice City Harmonic Orchestra, under the direction of Urs Brodmann, will perform Mei’s “Symphony No. 1” and Verdi’s “Nabucco Overture.”

Friday, November 25, at 8:30 PM, in Apollon Hall at Acropolis, Franรงois-Renรฉ Duchรขble, internationally renowned French pianist, accompanied by the Regional Orchestra of Cannes Provence-Alpes-Cรดte dโAzur under the direction of Philippe Bender, will musically celebrate the 200th anniversary of Franz Lisztโs birth.
Saturday, November 26, at 8:45 PM, in Apollon Hall at Acropolis, Barbara Hendricks will perform with the Nice Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of maestro Philippe Auguin, in a series of themes from the “Summer Nights” by French composer Hector Berlioz.
A space dedicated to budding music enthusiasts within Acropolis and a morning dedicated to middle school students featuring, among other events:
Friday, November 25, at 2:30 PM, in Apollon Hall, the Acropolis Palace will host 2,500 students, representing 40 middle schools in the department, during an educational concert paying tribute to composer Franz Liszt.
Saturday, November 26, at 7:15 PM, in the Hall of the Muses at Acropolis, children (from 8 years old) can attend the humorous and musical show “Franz, Pianist and Concert Clown,” performed by the Company Les Nouveaux Nez.
Sunday, November 27, at 2:15 PM and 4 PM, in the Hall of Muses at Acropolis, the musical theater inspired by the plot of “A Midsummer Nightโs Dream” will be performed by the Company of Mars for the great joy of children over 6 years old.
