Malicious and false information about Christian Estrosi: how sad!

Latest News

The upheaval of “whatever it takes” information claims another victim, and one of its most illustrious: Christian Estrosi himself.

Never one to shy away from sharing details about his political, and sometimes personal, activities, always present in comments on everything happening, the president of the Métropole and the Region has now himself been the target of disinformation instigated by far-right websites.

He is the one who announces and denounces it:

‏@cestrosi: I will take all necessary actions to put an end to these unbearable practices disseminated by affiliates of a political party that promotes hate.

‏@cestrosi : Today, I am taking legal action to determine who is behind the lie. I will include this tweet in the procedure*

Christian Estrosi is right to complain: he was not in police custody at all, at least not the custody people wanted to attribute to him (for a few months, he has been in an official relationship and with women, that’s another matter altogether) but on a personal trip.

It is easy and cowardly to spread false information, even if it means placing the burden on the person concerned to refute them by providing evidence. In any case, since the noise of the first version is always stronger than the denial, doubt lingers, and in fact, the authors’ goal is precisely that.

These methods must be condemned with the utmost firmness, political opposition must remain within the bounds of proper conduct. Such actions dishonor those who practice them.

Nothing new under the sun. This is an old tactic traced back to the heydays of the KGB (the Soviet security and information services that inspired many imitators!).

Finally, the media must be vigilant not to become accomplices in these acts.

The public session of the Regional Council next Thursday promises to be… spicy!
