Manuel Dureuil succeeds Philippe Manassero as president of the CDOS 06 after twelve years in office. He wishes to continue the work undertaken while bringing a new breath to the Azurian sports movement.
Nearly 200 people attended the Ordinary and Electoral General Assemblies of the Alpes-Maritimes Departmental Olympic and Sports Committee (CDOS 06), held on Friday, March 28, 2025, at Villa Eilen Roc in Antibes. Philippe Manassero handed over the reins to Manuel Dureuil after twelve years of presidency.
Philippe Manassero led the CDOS 06 for three terms. A former international basketball referee, he worked for the development of sports in the Maralpin territory and implemented several initiatives promoting inclusion, health, and Olympic values. His achievements were praised during his end-of-term speech, which concluded with a long ovation.
The list of Manuel Dureuil won the election with 92.94% of the votes cast by nearly 80% of the sports committees present. The former secretary-general of the CDOS 06, he intends to pursue the work undertaken while bringing a new breath. “It is with humility and a sense of responsibility that I succeed my friend Philippe Manassero. Much has been done. It is in continuity, but also in change, that the team I have the honor to lead is engaged, in the service of the Maralpin committees and athletes,” he declared.
A ceremony with sports stakeholders present
Numerous personalities were present, including Charles Ange Ginésy, president of the Department, Jean Leonetti, mayor of Antibes, Senator Alexandra Borchio Fontimp, and Deputy Eric Pauget. Several mayors, sports delegates, and presidents of departmental committees attended this transition of power.
Charles Ange Ginésy paid tribute to Philippe Manassero, calling him a committed player in the departmental sports movement. He recalled his involvement in projects like the Sports Caravan, “Sport is in the Field,” or the exhibition “Sportive Women 06”. “He embodies this phrase by Michael Jordan that he loves so much: ‘Some want it to happen, others make it happen.’ He made it happen — with passion and humility,” he emphasized, presenting him with the Department’s medal.
The CDOS 06 begins a new cycle with a renewed leadership team. Alongside Manuel Dureuil, Murielle Bailet holds the position of secretary-general and Yolande Lanzas that of treasurer. The board also includes several vice-presidents responsible for public policies, health, education, and sustainable development.
The arrival of this new team takes place in a particular context, with the approach of the Alpine French Olympic and Paralympic Games 2030. The CDOS 06 aims to continue its work in promoting sports across the territory, supporting clubs and volunteers.
