The student festival organized by the MICA association in partnership with the city of Nice and the University of Côte d’Azur launched its 21st edition this Friday, March 11, at the Museum of Fine Arts in Nice.
Unique in France and created over 20 years ago, Mars aux musées is an event organized by students for students.
Every year, nearly a dozen museums open their doors and offer their settings for dazzling projections and performances.
Due to health restrictions in effect in 2021, the festival, which annually brings together more than 5,000 people, could not fill the Nice museums during its 20th edition.
For its return, the student organizers have opted for a theme with mystical overtones: “Phantasmagoria”.
The opening night, themed “Divine Creatures”, did not fail to enchant its participants.
“It was a rich opening with artistic performances: dance, theater, singing… A truly original and completely new way for me to visit a museum” Ugo, a communication student present during the evening, told us.
Against a backdrop of ancient arts, the artists’ lineup remained contemporary:
– Sarah Maison, an oriental pop singer;
– the urban dance troupe “Reia Crew”;
– Sarah Salek, a pole dance performer from Nice;
– the Nice association Med’arts, specializing in theatrical performances.
To perform, the artists moved through the different rooms of the museum, allowing the audience to choose whether or not to engage in all the scheduled performances and workshops.
“The traditional museum codes have given way to a new dynamic, more in tune with the times and entirely suited for a student audience,” argued a 20-year-old student, determined to closely follow this 21st season.
Scheduled from March 11 to 25, Mars aux musées offers upcoming events not to be missed:
