“Mimosa against Cancer”: a flower, a team, a hope

Latest News

What if a simple bouquet could help fight cancer? Each year, in February, the Côte d’Azur turns yellow for a cause that affects each of us. Since 2025, the campaign “Mimosa against cancer,” led by the Antoine Lacassagne Center in Nice, has transformed this iconic flower into a symbol of solidarity, prevention, and support for research.

The mimosa, bright and resilient, embodies renewal and hope in the heart of winter. Each sprig offered or purchased represents a concrete gesture of support for patients and a commitment to advancing research. Cancer detected early benefits from more effective treatments, highlighting the importance of raising public awareness about early diagnosis.

Throughout February, the campaign unfolds through concrete initiatives: distribution of mimosa sprigs to patients and caregivers, a pop-up store on Avenue Jean-Médecin in Nice selling bouquets and solidarity products, an art exhibition by the Patates Collective, and participation in regional events like the Fête du Mimosa in Mandelieu or the Nice Carnival. Every gesture, even the simplest one, directly contributes to financing innovative research programs, ranging from artificial intelligence to personalize treatments to revolutionary biopsies for detecting cancer earlier.

One flower, one team

This mobilization brings together medical teams, associations, local florists, businesses, and citizens. Together, they unite their efforts to support patients, improve diagnostics, and strengthen treatments, while highlighting prevention and early screening. For over 60 years, the Antoine Lacassagne Center has been a bastion of medical innovation on the Côte d’Azur, and each year, this initiative gives hope to thousands of patients in the fight against cancer.

Whether you are nearby or far away, everyone can contribute: buy a bouquet, acquire a solidarity product, make an online donation, or share the campaign on social media. Every euro, every gesture counts.

One flower, one hope

So, this February, let the mimosa remind you once more that hope is cultivated with every gesture, and that each of us can, in our own way, help fight cancer with the mimosa against cancer 2026 operation. A bouquet, a donation, a share: so many small “lights” capable of illuminating the lives of thousands of people.

As a reminder, the 2026 campaign started on February 3 and will continue until February 28, with several key events to come:

  • Saturday, February 14: Fête du Mimosa in Mandelieu and inauguration of the Patates Collective art exhibition at Nicetoile.
  • Wednesday, February 18: prevention stand and sale of solidarity items at the Nice Carnival.
  • Throughout February: media and digital campaign relayed on social media via #MimosaContreLeCancer.
