As part of his electoral campaign for the 2026 municipal elections in Nice, Éric Ciotti promises to reduce property tax by 20% and to cancel the increase applied last year. He estimates that this measure, valued at 40 million euros, would be offset by operational savings and a new distribution of the tax burden.

The candidate has reaffirmed his commitment to reducing property tax by 20% if he is elected to the mayor’s office in Nice. According to him, this measure would lighten the tax burden on property owners and support residents’ purchasing power. Éric Ciotti has also announced his intention to eliminate the property tax increase decided and applied last year by the current municipality. He believes that this increase has burdened taxpayers’ finances and wishes to reverse its effects as part of his program.

A simulator to evaluate savings

To concretely illustrate his proposal, his team presented an online simulation tool allowing property owners to estimate the impact of a reduction in the municipal portion on their tax notice. By entering the corresponding amount, taxpayers can visualize potential savings over a year.

In the Cimiez neighborhood, a residential area where the value and size of homes directly influence the amount of property tax, the example of a female property owner of a five-room apartment was highlighted, with estimated savings of several hundred euros per year.

Funding estimated at 40 million euros

When asked about the cost of this measure, the candidate valued it at approximately 40 million euros. He claims that this sum could be offset by savings made on the city’s operating expenses, the metropolitan authority, and associated services. He also proposes expanding the contribution of certain businesses in order to modify the distribution of the tax burden. With this intervention, and this simulator, local taxation is emerging as one of the major aspects of his campaign. By choosing Cimiez to present his proposals, Éric Ciotti wished to speak directly to property owners concerned by property tax, in a context of debate over the management of local finances.
