The national day of tribute to the “Morts pour la France” in Indochina was established by decree in 2005.
This day of tribute corresponds to the day of the transfer to the national necropolis of Notre-Dame de Lorette, of the Unknown Soldier of Indochina’s remains, on June 8, 1980. Since then, June 8 has been the day of commemoration for the victims in Indochina.
Every year a ceremony is organized in Paris, while similar ceremonies take place in each French department, in Mayotte, New Caledonia, French Polynesia, Saint Pierre and Miquelon, and in the Wallis and Futuna islands, organized at the initiative of the State representative.
The program of ceremonies in Nice:
11:00 a.m.: Gathering of Associations with their Flags.
11:15 a.m.: Welcome of the authorities – laying of wreaths.
