New transfer for Grégory Paisley heading to OGC Nice

Latest News

Grégory Paisley was born on May 7, 1977, in Paris. His professional football career started in 1997, at his hometown club, PSG. After signing his first contract with the top division Parisian club, he was immediately sent for 6 months to Servette of Geneva. It was a club where Grégory Paisley could not establish himself as a starting left-back, even after playing nearly a dozen matches for the first team.

In January 2001, he was transferred to Rennes and continued his career by moving through major Ligue 1 clubs such as Le Havre, Sochaux, Metz, Troyes, and Strasbourg. As a substitute at Metz’s CFA, he was then recruited by Jean-Marc Furlan to fill the central defender position at Troyes’ ESTAC. In 2007, when his club was relegated to the second division, all eyes turned to him. Olympique de Marseille showed interest in the player, but the transfer ultimately did not happen. The reason: the sum of two million euros in transfer fees demanded by Troyes was considered too high by the Marseille club. Consequently, it was Jean-Marc Furlan, leaving his position as coach of the Troyes team, who persuaded Grégory Paisley to come to Strasbourg with him.

At Racing Club de Strasbourg, the defender experienced another relegation. He was nonetheless named captain for the 2008-2009 season, but his title was stripped in 2009, following remarks made against the club’s supporters and less-than-promising performances. These performances were likely influenced by the fact that the 32-year-old French player, by his own admission, found it hard to adapt to Ligue 2.

By returning to a Ligue 1 club like OGC Nice, perhaps Grégory Paisley will find a real desire to play as well as promising performances for his future?
