The Nice hockey players once again emerged victorious. Their most recent victim is none other than Brest: the only team that managed to win on the Nice Hockey rink this season. The Bretons, however, suffered the Nice onslaught and conceded a heavy 4-7 defeat. Furthermore, the Eagles achieved a historic feat: they had not recorded a win in Brest for over 10 years!
A very contested match
Yet, it was the Brest Albatros who opened the scoring. By the end of the first period, Jimmy Lundberg had conceded 2 goals. The Nice players went back to the locker room without having opened their scoreboard.
In the second period, the team from the Côte d’Azur displayed a much better hockey performance. This surge of pride paid off, as within 10 minutes, Karri Koivu, Michal Dian, and Stefan Rusnak beat the Brest goalie and allowed Nice to take the lead (2-3). The Albatros, caught off guard, managed to equalize and then regain a one-point lead (4-3).
In the third period, Jan Babic scored twice. It was ultimately Jozef Slaninak who delivered the final blow to Brest in the very last seconds, thus securing a 7th goal on the Nice scoreboard.
Thanks to this victory, the Nice team remains 2nd in the French D1 Championship standings and notches a 5th consecutive win in this return phase.
