Nice hosts its Culture en Herbe Festival.

Latest News

After a successful first edition at the Castel des Deux Rois last Saturday, the Festival Culture in Herbe continues in Nice on Saturdays, May 14 and 21, 2011, from 12:00 PM to 7:30 PM. Two other prestigious parks will be highlighted in the next two Sundays to fully enjoy the beautiful days in an exceptional setting: Les Arรจnes de Cimiez (on the 14th) and the park dโ€™Estienne dโ€™Orves (on the 21st).

Culture in Herbe consists of bringing together, in one space (parks and green spaces of the city), professional and experienced structures of the Current Music industry and cultural associations based in Nice in the form of introductory and discovery days:

These public spaces will be adorned with multiple stands and fun-educational workshops in line with current pedagogies and technologies (Pictorial initiation, Vjing (video editing), photography, Pixillation Workshop (animation cinema), dance, turntablism (mix and scratch), Origami, Hoola hoop, cinema, M.A.O (computer-assisted music), Chiptune (8-bit music), environmental awareness, sustainable development and risks, arts diffusion, theater, musical instrument construction, recycling creation, readingโ€ฆ.

Live musical electro, electroacoustic, and other sound performances will be presented by a multitude of local artists with already recognized but still too unknown talents like Swap control (swap records), La guigne (CIRM), Paul Kersey and friends (Radio Monaco), Les arbres qui marchent, H-Tenza / Ludovic Vendi / Servietsky (Sonat), FAROA Jazz Quartet, Malahel + James Clark (Connected), Occult69 (Seconde Nature), Larry flint, Redwan (Roman, Photo Records), Debector (The Sound of Debector), Mr. Morse (Frosthโ€™n records), JDDJ3J (Bleepstreet Records), Romain Inconito (Galerie RDF)โ€ฆ

The goal is to bring together all the different actors and protagonists of these emerging or so-called “niche” cultures to make the richness and current heritage known to the largest audience, young and old (“de-sulfurize” these practices, make them accessible and understandable), a local dissemination by structures, associations, artists, and institutions for a global outreach.
