Nice rallies for the Telethon

Latest News

In Nice, the 2024 Telethon promises to be rich in events and initiatives to support research against rare diseases. Here are the key moments for this edition.

On November 29, Nice will rally to kick off the 38th edition of the Telethon. Various events are planned in the city center, bringing together volunteers, families, and onlookers for a common cause: advancing research. Among the main activities, outdoor stands and animations will allow the public to learn more about the scientific advances supported by the AFM-Telethon.

Additionally, the city of Nice hosts several significant research projects. Véronique Paquis, a researcher at the Nice University Hospital, is currently testing innovative molecules aimed at correcting mitochondrial dysfunctions, which are essential for the proper functioning of our cells. This research, promising for the treatment of serious diseases, could also provide solutions for common pathologies like neurodegenerative diseases. Thus, Nice plays a crucial role in the scientific momentum of the Telethon, aiming for innovative therapies for previously incurable diseases.

Scientists Very Active in Nice

The Nice University Hospital, with its multidisciplinary consultations, constitutes another pillar of support for families. These consultations allow patients to meet various specialists in one place, facilitating comprehensive and personalized follow-up. They represent a place of comfort and hope for many families who, each year, benefit from AFM-Telethon support.

Finally, as part of the “1,000 Researchers in Schools” initiative, scientists supported by the Telethon will visit Nice’s middle and high schools until December 6. These meetings will raise young people’s awareness of research and the challenges of rare diseases, and might even inspire future vocations.

For this edition of the Telethon, sponsored by the singer Mika, Nice is thus strengthening its commitment, both through local activities and its role in research. Together, residents, researchers, and volunteers mobilize to support families affected by disease and move towards effective treatments.
