In these times of municipal elections where any element or topic is good to be exploited in terms of electoral propaganda, this ranking will not go unnoticed and will be the subject of comments and… controversies.
Nice fares quite well in the category of cities with more than 2,000 inhabitants (the other category being villages with fewer than 2,000 inhabitants).
It is ranked in 6th place, behind Annecy, Bayonne, and La Rochelle, who, in order, make up the podium, and Angers and Le Mans, which precede it.
The other two major cities in the Alpes-Maritimes department follow at a distance: Cannes is in 27th place, and Antibes in 37th.
The association of towns and villages where it is good to live has conducted several OpinionWay surveys since 2017 to define the categories/themes that characterize a town or village where it is good to live for the French. The sample of people surveyed was constituted according to the quota method, considering criteria such as gender, age, socio-professional category, category of agglomeration, and region of residence.
A total of 182 criteria were considered, spread across the 8 categories derived from the survey results, and analyzed for each territory of metropolitan France to establish the ranking of towns and villages where it is good to live.
