The first Nice solidarity days began in joy and brotherhood.
The program included a local cooking competition organized by the “cuisine niçoise” collective, and the “Ratatouillettes” kicked off the day with the qualification of twelve pre-selected candidates. The great representatives of Nice cuisine were present.
The event is hosted at the Jorge François forum, a 250 square meter cultural and social space located in the heart of the city.
And it was during the midday break that Christian Estrosi visited the site to deliver a speech highlighting the importance of Nice cuisine: “Everywhere in the world, you can find Niçoise salad on restaurant menus! It is a globally known dish that deserves its place in the Guinness Book.” On the menu, guests enjoyed a meal prepared by Chef Phillipe Bouchet, his teams, and some passionate local chefs.
The event is also an opportunity to bring together locals who cannot afford a starred chef’s meal in everyday life. “Some elderly people have small pensions that don’t allow them to eat in gourmet restaurants. It’s also a way to delight the community.”
Each meal purchased results in a free meal for the less fortunate through the Jorge François Forum and its social partners.
