Modeselektor, Amon Tobin, Kid Koala, or Riton—these names probably mean nothing to you, yet they are renowned artists in the world of electronic music. These DJs are also the headliners of the Nuziq festival. Don’t think that it’s reserved only for the initiated; the goal of the organizers is to introduce this culture to as many people as possible. To attract crowds, the first two days of the festival are free, with the evenings taking place at Smarties Bar on August 1st and at Hi Hotel on the 2nd.
Last year over 3000 people gathered to celebrate electronic music. For this 4th edition, the organizers are aiming higher, hoping to surpass 6000 spectators. Highlights of these four days include two concerts held at the Théâtre de verdure. Aficionados will gather to dance to the dancefloor rhythms offered by the DJs. The four evenings will be marked by the performance of a human beatbox, Ezra by name, who can reproduce any rhythm using only his mouth as an instrument. As the festival’s artistic director, David Elalouf, declared, “it’s an insane thing!”
2007 is a pivotal year for Nuziq, as the festival is gaining momentum. With an eclectic lineup, artists at the peak of their craft, and a diverse audience, it meets all the conditions to become a major event of the summer season. Gaining national prominence is certainly our hope for this original event.
