Open slopes in the ski resorts of the Metropolis

It has now become a habit in the Southern Alps: opening the ski resorts on the last weekend of November or the first of December.

This year, very abundant snowfall at the end of November, with significant snow depths, allowed the opening of the two resorts Auron and Isola 2000 (the snowiest resort in France!).

This abundant snow complemented a snowmaking campaign with 75,000 m3 produced at Auron and 200,000 m3 at Isola 2000.

With 8,400 attendees on the first day of opening, a new record was set.

Confident in a great season, Christian Estrosi, president of the Métropole, in the presence of the concerned mayors and local elected officials, recalled “the strong commitment and extraordinary investments in service of our resorts.”

Indeed, over the past 16 years, €185.7 million have been invested in the two resorts (€92 million in Auron and €93.7 million in Isola 2000). Saint-Delmas la Selvage continues its transformation into a Nordic skiing area.

On the economic front, the ski resorts generate 130 direct jobs for the operation of the ski area per resort and 600 indirect jobs at each resort.
