In response to the terrible fires currently affecting Algeria, volunteers all over France, particularly in Nice, are mobilizing to provide assistance.
After Greece and Turkey, Algeria is now the victim of devastating fires. The fires broke out on Monday night due to the heatwave affecting the entire country. Already, 70 people have been killed and over a hundred are reported missing.
To help Algeria, which is already struggling with the Covid-19 crisis and the lack of oxygen in intensive care units, the President of the Republic, Emmanuel Macron, expressed his support for the Algerian people and announced that two water bombers and a command plane would be sent to Kabylie, the hardest-hit area.
In Nice, this tragedy has moved the population, who have decided to assist Algerians. Numerous online fundraisers have been created on social networks, and solidarity collections are being organized. This was the case yesterday at 7 p.m. at the Nicolaรฏ stadium in the Madeleine district. The collected donations will be entrusted to an association responsible for sending them to Algeria.
