The famous M6 channel show “Zone Interdite” aired a documentary on autism on Sunday, March 31. It is titled “Autistic, Down Syndrome: Different and Happy!” and focuses on young Jordan from Nice, who has Down syndrome and is a high-level athlete.
Presented by Ophรฉlie Meunier, the documentary aimed to show how young people with Down syndrome or autism can lead a “normal” life, far from stereotypes and discrimination. Each year, between 6,000 and 8,500 children are born with these disabilities.
The cameras of the show explored the life of a 26-year-old from Nice, Jordan, who has Down syndrome and is a high-level athlete. He excels in two disciplines in particular: judo and swimming.
He participated from March 14 to 22 in the Special Olympics World Games in Abu Dhabi, dedicated to people with intellectual disabilities. This competition brings together 750 athletes from over 170 countries.
Jordan, although he is continuously supported by educators and psychologists, proves to us that it is possible to live a fulfilling life, despite his differences.
