The Nautical Club of Nice and the Departmental Committee of the Rowing Societies of Alpes-Maritimes (CDSA 06) are organizing, for the second consecutive year, the long-distance regatta of the 4 ‘Caps. The coxed four scull boats will start from Menton at 9:00 am. The junior, senior, or veteran categories, including both men and women, will start together. They will pass by Cap d’Ail, Cap Martin, and Cap Ferrat before arriving at Cap de Nice before noon. Throughout the 24 kilometers of the race, safety will be ensured by volunteers from the four clubs federated by the CDSA 06: Menton, Monaco, Villefranche-sur-mer, and Nice. The festivities will continue with the prize-giving at 12:00 pm, followed by a “club aperitif.”
Last year, the Aviron Grenoblois boat won the sea event in 2 hours and 7 minutes, under difficult conditions. The 35 rowers had to face a force 6 wind. However, the elements overcame three of the seven boats: one withdrew at the start, due to damage, and the other two, in distress, were diverted by safety personnel. Needless to say, the race is not the easiest, and it is advisable for competitors to follow the instructions of the organizers and referees. It should be noted that depending on weather conditions, the organizers reserve the right to modify the course, cancel it, or postpone it to Sunday, April 4th.
