Safety in Nice’s transportation system.

A savvy blend of cutting-edge technologies and robust on-the-ground interventions for a promising interim report: Since the resumption of public transport management (on September 1st), 4,912 fines have been issued for lack of a transport ticket or validation, and 302 fines for not respecting reserved lanes.

Beyond the result, deemed highly satisfactory by Christian Estrosi and Philippe Pradal, president of the Régie Ligne d’Azur, what seems obvious is the more direct relationship between the different stakeholders involved in the network.

61 agents from the Transport Security Control Group and 15 municipal police officers from the Urban Transport Security Brigade, along with occasional interventions from municipal police patrols, represent a first-rate intervention force.

All under the watchful eye of 877 cameras, including 42 located on tramway platforms, coordinated by the Urban Supervision Center.

The goal: To make it understood that the price of a ticket (€1.50 for a single journey or €10 for a card of 10 trips) is always cheaper than the €86 fine!

One might almost say it’s educational…
