On January 10, Gilles de Robien, Minister of National Education, and François Goulard, Deputy Minister for Higher Education and Research, presented the implementation of the proposals from the national debate commission on Universities and Employment. This announcement concerns improving the guidance of young people and the implementation of an active orientation system within universities. In this context, which aligns with the National Scheme for Guidance and Professional Integration, the possibility for first-year university students to reorient themselves as early as the first semester is included.
The end of the first semester of the first year of university is the time for the students’ initial assessment; it is essential not to let failure and demotivation take root, the consequences of which can be long-lasting. Students who do not wish to continue their commitment to the first year of university now have the opportunity to change their course, and a chance to improve their prospects of success.
Delayed entry into BTS (Advanced Technician Certificate) programs is a way to offer a chance of success to students. Preparing for a degree that is valued at the time of professional integration and also providing opportunities for further studies, particularly towards professional licenses, creates favorable conditions for a new orientation.
For general series high school graduates entering the hospitality BTS, passing through a bridging class is required to provide the necessary technological prerequisites. To facilitate the choice of these BTS programs, Paul Augier High School in Nice is creating a bridging section from February 2007 that allows students to prepare for entry into the first year of BTS hospitality starting from September 2007.
This online information system, which aids orientation and online application, provides access to vacant places in BTS programs according to specializations and host high schools of the Academy. Interested students can learn about the procedure, download the application form, and, once filled out, send it to the institution before February 17, 2007. The host high school centralizes the forms and organizes the recruitment modalities before informing the candidates.
