For its first participation, the Alpes-Maritimes Department received the 2015 Challenge Award for Public Transport Day in the “Intermodality and Customer Services Challenge” category, thanks to its Bus Connect 06 service, on Tuesday, November 3 at the Senate.
This award, presented by the GIE Objectif Transport Public, the Union of Public Transport (UTP), and the Transport Authorities Group (GART), is the result of significant work carried out jointly by the Department and its two operators, Kéolis and Transdev, who have been significantly improving information for public transport users since 2012.
In this context, the Bus Connect 06 service was created to allow travelers to know, in real time, the schedules of the next bus arrivals.
Today, more than 90% of the departmental bus network stops are equipped.
Thanks to sending a free SMS, using a QR code application, or Twitter (@BusConnect06), travelers can obtain immediate information on the real waiting time before the next bus arrives.
The information is also accessible to visually impaired people who receive an oral message via SMS.
By the end of 2015, all stops will be equipped.
