Under a radiant sky, the flower battle transformed the promenade into a place of celebration, between multicolored floats, energetic dancers and jubilant spectators. Between anticipations, bursts of laughter and a shower of petals, the celebration offered a popular representation that attracts tourists, families and artists from all continents.

At 2:30 PM sharp, the music starts and the dance artists make their appearance on Masséna Square. The audience, seated in the stands, stands up, applauds and films. The first measures of Magic System or “That Year” turn up the heat. The artists warm up the audience by sending complicit signs and deliberate smiles. The atmosphere is already charged with electricity.
Quickly, a battle is established, not one of flowers, but one of the stands. They come alive with energy: Max Gallo, Jean Jaurès, Masséna, Félix Faure, and the Promenade des Anglais. All strive to create more noise, to dance with more energy, to attract the attention of the artists.

The host animates the crowd, the children wave their arms, phones are raised to immortalize the moment. The celebration is collective, and competitive. At 2:57 PM, while thirty minutes before, some wondered if the mayor would be present, a movement attracts attention: the arrival of the mayor. A few applause erupt, Christian Estrosi shakes hands with personalities near his seat, while other spectators continue dancing, absorbed by the music. Seated in the middle of the crowd, he too came to enjoy the party.

A parade of colors and culture

At 3:05 PM, the first floats appear at the end of the avenue, accompanied by a murmur that continues to grow. Heads rise, phones lift. Then the colors appear. The flowers bloom in luminous yellow, soft pink, intense red, fiery orange. The compositions are made with precision, almost like sculptures. The floats progress at a moderate pace, offering the public the opportunity to examine every aspect, every outfit, every meticulously designed decoration. Among the performers, the stilt-walkers from the Netherlands dominate the crowd with their spectacular height. Dressed in striking outfits, they progress with elegance despite the distance between them and the ground. On the floats, the scenes parade by and each tells a distinctive identity. An Italian float proudly displays a Roman soldier, who walks the Promenade with elegance, shining helmet and rigid posture, like an apparition from Antiquity. Further on, an ambassador takes on the role of the Mona Lisa, with her mysterious smile and piercing gaze, honoring European artistic heritage.

France is no exception: Marianne, symbol of the Revolution, stands on a float in blue, white and red colors. Dressed in the colors of the flag and surrounded by matching flowers, she holds high the tricolor banner amid public acclaim.
The atmosphere changes a few minutes later: Brazilian music takes the stage. Feathers, sequins and lively rhythms breathe a carnival atmosphere. Each character narrates a story, each painting transports us elsewhere. Europe, South America, Asia, Africa and Oceania: it seems that all the continents pass before the eyes of Nice residents and their guests. It is only from 4:30 PM onwards that the battle becomes truly significant. Thus, the artists grab bouquets and throw them towards the stands. The Mayor of Nice watches flowers fall in the stands. An aromatic rain falls on the crowd, causing screams, laughter and cries of surprise. Children extend their arms, parents bend down, everyone wants to grab a piece of this lively landscape.

Throughout the comings and goings, arms rise to pick flowers, laughter multiplies and people who don’t know each other share a few words like old acquaintances. Wonder and smiles were just as present on the floats as in the stands during the show.
