A long walk among the construction sites to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Eco-Vallée, the urban development operation launched by Christian Estrosi, then Minister of Territorial Planning, which is starting to take shape: completed buildings, those under construction and those upcoming, plus a park with a few living spaces, characterize this “new-town” that will shift the city’s axis toward this new hub which, by 2020-2022, will create two new neighborhoods, the Grand Arénas* and Méridia with the renovated Moulins area in between.
If we add the tram line 2 already servicing Cadam and the airport, which in a few months will connect to the Saint-Isidore district benefiting the Allianz Arena and the future Ikea.
Given the context, how can we prevent Christian Estrosi from celebrating his small triumph
(the milestones reached are enormous since the creation of the OIN 10 years ago. The choices made were the right ones, the path is set, we must keep moving forward.)
and overlook the sharp intervention of Anne Sattonnet, representing the Departmental Council – who wanted to remind us – somewhat polemically?, no surprise given the discordant relations between the two entities – that the precondition for the Operation of National Interest was securing the Var to avoid the risk of flooding.
Beyond this ping-pong style “I love you, I love you not,” the construction cranes point towards the sky, a sign that projects are advancing. This allowed Christian Estrosi to launch a “I love cranes!”
Given the good results of this first phase of the OIN, a second phase is planned with the signing of the PPA (Partnership Urban Planning Project 2019-2032) contract, which will take place on the other side of the Mercantour boulevard (in addition to the Exhibition Park): housing, a mega-urban park, sports facilities, plus buildings between Saint-Isidore and Lingostière, the agro-food platform at La Baronne, and real estate operations in the plain within the boundaries of the communes of Gattières and Saint-Jeannet.
10 years is the age of reason, but here we are aiming far, well beyond adolescence!
