Latest News

Christian Estrosi awarded the Medal of Youth and Sports to Philippe Manassero, a former international basketball referee, yesterday. Originally from Nice, he has officiated games featuring major names in world basketball, such as Michael Jordan and the 1992 Dream Team.

He began his career in 1978 in Nationale 2, the fourth tier in the hierarchy of French basketball, then moved to the Pro A league starting in 1980 and to the international level from 1984 until 2001, the year of his retirement.

Philippe Manassero has held several positions, notably within the AS of Firefighters, the Union of Niçoise Basketball Societies (of which he has been President since 1998). He has served as Corporal, Sergeant, Adjudant, and Major. Today, he is involved in local life. His commitments have already earned him many local and national distinctions.

This latest award recognizes a particular investment in the sports world.

Behind the scenes, there is talk that he will be a candidate for the election to the position of President of CDOS 06 on the occasion of the next renewal of this organization.
