Combining rhythms without erasing differences. That is the essence of the National Orchestra of Barbès, 11 of the finest musicians from Paris, from various countries and backgrounds, who come together to create a rich and infinitely varied musical spectrum, with hints of reggae, ragga, jazz, gwani, rock, salsa, and chaabi. As a group with no hierarchy, they champion the spirit of the streets.

The ONB was founded in 1995 by Yucef Boukella, a bassist and composer. From their very first album, the group quickly established a legitimacy that soon expanded beyond the boundaries of the Goutte d’Or, a popular neighborhood in Paris. They self-produced their albums and organized 500 concerts in 6 years. After touring around the world, they gained international recognition on stage.
That was 8 years ago. Today, the group is reuniting and embarking on a new adventure. They will bring their Maghrebian groove to the Lino Ventura theater in Nice on Saturday, March 15, starting at 8:30 PM. Their audience comes to listen, but more importantly to dance, sing, and have a blast with them to the rhythm of percussion.

Opening act: Tarik

A young independent musician, Tarik will be opening for this concert. Of Moroccan origin, Tarik is developing a repertoire of raï and chaabi music, which he enriches with popular French influences. In his debut album, “Mektab”, he beautifully covers “La Foule” by Edith Piaf in Arabic, accompanied by accordions and guitars. His raï is fresh, full of colors, with a Hispanic rhythm and a pleasant Latin American musicality.
