The Nice Carnival takes on a sustainable development theme in 2010.

Latest News

From February 12 to 28, 2010, the “King of the Blue Planet” will reign over the 126th edition of the Nice Carnival, the most significant winter event on the French Riviera.

A deep dive into the discovery of its history, nature, and its astounding biodiversity, down to the abysses and the wanderings of Man. This event concludes with an intimate conviction: the protection and preservation of nature is indeed the major challenge of this century.

A resolutely ecological carnival, attentive to sustainable development — with recycling workshops as an example — yet remaining true to the spirit of this great popular celebration. Humor, mockery, and poetry will be there.

Around Place Masséna, 20 allegorical or burlesque floats will parade, accompanied by animated elements, street art troupes, and musical groups from the five continents. These carnival parades will take the form of initiatory journeys… a tour of the world and Humanity in 80 minutes!

Facing the sea, flowers like rain… The grace and elegance of the flower battles with their sumptuously costumed young people will recall the power of flowers.

New floats, open on 360°, will parade along the Promenade des Anglais dressed in roses, carnations, snapdragons, or mimosas which will highlight the region’s floral heritage.

Aside from its festivities, the Carnival period offers a wonderful opportunity to discover Nice in winter: the mild climate, the brightness of the sky, and the art of living on the French Riviera. Natural sites, cultural and artistic life, and a gastronomic hotspot reveal a rich palette of emotions.
