Top scorer of the club this season (9 goals), Carlos Eduardo would love to continue the adventure in the south of France. The 25-year-old Brazilian keeps improving week after week, but the final decision rests with his club, FC Porto. So, wait and see*
The statement is powerful and in French, please: “I am happy here, I want to stay.” In a press conference this Thursday, the midfielder reiterated his attachment to the Nice club, eight months after his arrival. He, who is on loan, without a purchase option, from FC Porto, would choose to spend the 2015-2016 season still in red and black. “There are a lot of good people and everyone is very kind to me: journalists, supporters… I feel good,” admits Carlos Eduardo.
“Mr. More”
A performer of brilliant feats like in Guingamp when he entered the history of Ligue 1 with his five goals or in Lyon where he scored a stunning bicycle kick, Carlos Eduardo is the “Mr. More” of OGC Nice this season. Repositioned as a playmaker, a position he was not very familiar with before his arrival on the Côte d’Azur, the number 3 of the Eagles seems to be thriving in this new role.
“In Portugal, I played more as a central midfielder (8). In Nice, I had the opportunity to play in other positions, especially as a number 10 almost every game. I like this role, I’ve made a lot of progress and another season at OGC Nice would allow me to continue improving,” he adds.
And he speaks French!
The ever-smiling Niçois stands out with his calmness during press conferences. He is one of the favorites of the red and black fans and always makes himself available after training for a photo, selfie, or autograph. The major progress is in the French language. Weekly lessons have had an immediate effect on “the shy” Carlos Eduardo. This Thursday, most of the meeting with the press was held in French. Like Niklas Hult, the Brazilian has quickly integrated into the Nice squad and through learning French, he has also integrated at “great speed.”
What future?
Exactly one month before the end of the season, Carlos Eduardo would like to have his future settled. “For me, it would be great to have another year here, I’m sure I could progress even more. The coach talks to me a lot and helps me to climb up the ranks. This year has been somewhat new for me and I would like to confirm. I think Nice will soon speak with Porto and that’s good. I need to know quickly for my future, especially as the holidays are coming soon (laughs).” Purchase? New loan? Return to Portugal? Answers in the coming weeks…
