The rugby world bereft of its little corporal

Latest News

We will no longer see his silhouette in front of a microphone trying to impart some of his passion for a sport that made him captain and then coach of the French rugby team for many years. Jacques Fouroux has joined the heavenly field of rugby players from around the world on Saturday night just after 10 PM, succumbing to a heart attack.

I have dedicated a part of my life to this oval ball whose bounce is so uncertain, and it is in the position of scrum-half, dear to this emblem of rugby, that I played for 15 years, missing none of his brilliant performances on the French team. But the clubs of Auch, La Voulte, Grenoble, or Cognac still remember the performances of this small stature so great through his talent.

On the field as in the locker rooms, he was able to impose his mark and it is a great figure, whom the world of rugby will have to learn to do without, who has departed leaving behind a beautiful victory of Auch over Stade Bordelais last Saturday.

He passed away at his home in Auch, certainly much too early, but leaving behind memories, friends, and values that make this “gentlemen’s” sport today one of the major team sports in France as well as around the world.

Farewell Mr. Petit Caporal, hello Jacques!
