The Sustainable Development Week: Tennis goes green

Latest News

The Sustainable Development Week is taking place this year from April 1st to April 7th. On this occasion, the French Tennis Federation is mobilizing for more responsible tennis with the “Opรฉration Balle Jaune,” an environmental and social responsibility project.

Each year, more than 14 million tennis balls are consumed and discarded in France. Thanks to the “Opรฉration Balle Jaune,” they are collected, recycled, and turned into sports fields created for the benefit of a local association!

This FFT initiative started in 2008 and now involves 36 tennis leagues in France. This year, 800,000 balls have been collected thanks to the participation of clubs and leagues (the volumetric equivalent of an Olympic-sized swimming pool!). Eleven projects are currently underway. For most of them, these are play areas of about a hundred square meters intended for educational institutions, homes for children or adults with disabilities, etc. 400,000 balls allow for the creation of 100mยฒ of sports field.
