Under the sun of the two shores of the city of Nice

Latest News

The city of Nice has about thirty associations that work to perpetuate and pass down to younger generations the culture of repatriated French people from North Africa, particularly the Pieds-Noirs and Harkis. These associations originate directly from the generation of some 50,000 repatriates who arrived in the Alpes-Maritimes in 1962 following the events of the Algerian War.

Christian Estrosi, Mayor of Nice, Deputy of Alpes-Maritimes, President of Nice Côte d’Azur, wished for a festive event to be organized in Nice to honor this work and to allow repatriates, their children, and grandchildren to gather and present the richness of their traditions and culture through stands and activities.

The first edition of this event in June 2010 in the gardens of the Cimiez Arènes was a great popular success with over 4,000 visitors.

Thus, the municipality decided to hold this event again on Saturday, June 4, and Sunday, June 5, 2011.

Numerous activities will be offered for all generations:

– A schedule of conferences
– Associative, writer, and collector stands
– An artistic platform with music, songs, oriental dances, theater for young audiences
– A dance evening with an orchestra
– A culinary workshop
– Traditional dining spaces
– A “reunion” stand
– An intergenerational physical and cultural game
– A multimedia space to discover all sites dealing with the culture and traditions of Repatriates
– A mass

And many more surprises and activities!!!
