After their two victories last weekend in Nancy, the ONN women’s team had to win one more match to claim the title of French champion. And it’s done since this Saturday, the residents of Olympic Nice Natation won 10 to 7 against the Nancéiennes. Thanks to this victory, the women from Nice won the national title for the fourth consecutive year.
They needed to confirm the good work done in Nancy (the ONN water polo players won 8-7 and 9-6 in the first two final matches against the Nancéiennes, ed.). The women from Nice did not fail in their mission with a 10-7 victory in a match that was not so easy. After the first quarter, Élise Lefert’s teammates led 2-0 before experiencing a slight drop in intensity in the second period. By halftime, the women from Nice and Nancy were neck and neck (3-3). The Azureans returned with good intentions and widened the gap to lead 7-4 at the start of the last quarter. The ONN water polo players managed the gap to win the match with a score of 10-7.

As in the past four years, the ONN women won the title of French champion. As in the past four years, they defeated their favorite victim: Nancy. Nice and Nancy logically were the two finalists. Indeed, since 2000, only two clubs have won the title of French champion in the women’s category: the Lorraine club and the Azurean team. Other teams will try to disturb the dominance of Nancy and Nice next year. The task seems very complicated.
