The Lauriers of the Fondation de France highlight particularly innovative and exemplary local initiatives each year. These projects, which follow a sustainable approach, provide concrete solutions to improve the lives of vulnerable people and also help strengthen social ties.

The initiatives awarded a departmental Laurier will participate in the regional Lauriers. The finalists compete for the national Lauriers, which will distinguish 9 winners on September 17th in Paris.

Selected by a jury of experts (volunteers from the Fondation de France, professionals, and associative actors), the awarded projects fall under the three intervention areas of the Fondation de France: aid to vulnerable people, development of knowledge, and the environment.

The departmental Laurier rewards the project of the Nice-based association Pomone: residents solidarize in creating a wetland

The recent discovery of an unexploited source in the Tripode public park, overlooking the Ariane neighborhood, showcased the full potential of this exceptionally underutilized site.

For Pomone, this “urban” water point is an opportunity to create attractive activities for the children of this sensitive neighborhood while giving it a new visual identity.

The program includes the establishment of a garden in the form of a mini wetland with a small waterfall creating a botanical and playful path. The project envisions the creation of a gathering area where young and old work together to build and preserve this special place, guided by professionals.

The Fondation de France supports this project to the tune of €10,000 within the framework of the call for projects “Let’s Manage Our Environment Together.” For 15 years, the Fondation de France has been providing financial and methodological support to initiatives of consultation and mediation initiated by users to enhance natural resources and protect their environment.

Engagement of residents and all individuals concerned with such a site (users, scientists, environmental protectors, associations) within a consultation process. Allow residents to enhance their territory while contributing to biodiversity.

“The creation of a wetland […] is innovative from an ecological, educational, and social point of view, with the objective being the active participation of residents and particularly young people in the development, maintenance, and upkeep of a living space,” says Maryse Isnart, the project manager
