The Francophone Association of Joomla! Users (AFUJ) is organizing the 9th JoomlaDay France, on Saturday, May 9 and Sunday, May 10, 2015, in Nice, at the Saint-Jean d’Angely university campus.
This event will allow web professionals and enthusiasts to meet through conferences, round tables, and workshops with developers who specialize in the CMS “Joomla!”.
More than 400 French-speaking participants are expected during this weekend on the French Riviera. Whether you are a professional, an enthusiast, or just curious, the sessions will be conducted by experts from the world of Joomla!®. Special “Complete Beginners” sessions will give novices the opportunity to create and leave directly with their website.
What is Joomla?
Joomla!® is one of the content management systems (CMS in English) currently available for free. CMSs run the majority of the websites you visit. They belong to a family of software designed for creating and dynamically updating websites or multimedia applications.
The Joomla CMS is Open Source and distributed under the GNU/GPL license (its source code is accessible and modifiable by anyone, for free). In 2015, it is one of the most widely used CMSs. Its counterparts are often Anglo-Saxon (WordPress, Drupal, Dotclear) or French-speaking, like Spip.
Joomla claims over 60 million installations thanks to an international community that supports it. It benefits from numerous updates. Its members are now promoting its new version 3.4, which includes the ability to adapt the website display on all web platforms (computers, tablets, smartphones). This is known as a “responsive” design.
To achieve this, Joomla uses Bootstrap, a framework developed by the social network Twitter.
