As summer approaches, the Alpes-Maritimes department is renewing one of its most emblematic events in terms of inclusion: the Handi Voile 06 Tour. For its 20th edition, this solidarity and sports initiative returns from June 5 to 27, 2026, with a firmly stated goal that has endured for nearly two decades: to make the sea accessible to everyone.
Launched in 2007, the Handi Voile 06 Tour has established itself over the years as a must-attend event for people with disabilities and their loved ones. Through free nautical activities, it allows everyone to discover or rediscover the joys of sailing and kayaking in a safe and adapted environment.
A tour along the Maralpine coast
To mark this 20th edition, the tour promises to be particularly rich. Twelve days are scheduled in eleven municipalities along the Maralpine coast: Nice, Cap-d’Ail, Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, Menton, Saint-Laurent-du-Var, Cagnes-sur-Mer, Villeneuve-Loubet, Antibes, Vallauris Golfe-Juan, Mandelieu-La Napoule, and Cannes. These locations will host this traveling event, in partnership with the Departmental Sailing Committee, local nautical bases, kayak clubs, and the municipalities.
At the heart of this operation is a strong ambition: to make sport a vector of inclusion. “More than ever, we affirm that sport must be accessible to all,” emphasizes Charles Ange Ginésy, president of the Alpes-Maritimes Department. Through the Handi Sport 06 system, the community aims to combat isolation and promote the development of people with disabilities, particularly through outdoor activities.
An accessible, free, and supervised practice
In concrete terms, the Handi Voile 06 Tour is open to all types of disabilities and is not limited to the direct beneficiaries: family members are also invited to participate in a spirit of sharing and conviviality. Participants can thus try their hand at both sailing and kayaking, in a safe environment adapted to their needs.
Each day is structured around four one-hour slots, supervised by qualified instructors: 9:30–10:30 a.m., 11:00–12:00 p.m., 1:30–2:30 p.m., and 3:00–4:00 p.m. In total, nearly 100 people can be accommodated daily, under optimal safety and support conditions.
Free access is one of the foundations of the program, helping to remove the economic barriers often associated with adapted sports practice. Since its creation, nearly 11,000 participants have been able to enjoy these outings at sea, demonstrating the success and relevance of the initiative.
During the 2025 edition, the 19th Handi Voile 06 Tour brought together over 1,000 participants across the Maralpine coast, confirming the success and growing interest in this inclusive initiative.
A sustainable commitment to inclusion
Beyond the summer event, the department’s commitment is long-term. Indeed, around fifty specialized structures benefit from free sailing sessions throughout the year at seven partner nautical bases. This complementary program allows about 600 additional people to regularly engage in an adapted nautical activity.
Registrations for the 2026 edition have been open since April 20 and can be made online on the department’s website. They are mandatory and limited to four people per family to ensure equitable access for the most significant number of people. Participants can also fill out their registration form directly on-site.
With this 20th edition, the Handi Voile 06 Tour reaffirms its role as a lever for a more inclusive society. By offering everyone the chance to set sail, it reminds us that sport, beyond performance, is above all a source of freedom, enjoyment, and social connection!Â
