The 3rd Côte d’Azur Sport Film Festival, which will run until next Thursday, is an event that promotes the values of sport and Olympism through images.
The festival is organized by the International Federation of Sports Cinema (FICTS), an associate member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), in partnership with the CDOS06, the local organizing committee (CO) chaired by Ms. Claire Peradotto (vice-president of UPE06).
School sessions are also organized with Cavigal Basket and Nice Volley for the screening of an educational film: “Olympic Values,” published by the IOC.
Each edition has a cultural component with a specific theme. This year, the central theme will be parasport. A conference is organized in collaboration with the departmental parasport committee.
The 3rd Côte d’Azur International Sport Film Festival is part of the World Challenge, which includes 18 festivals worldwide throughout 2018.
The festival will conclude in Milan from November 14 to 19. On this occasion, the winners will be presented and compete for the World Final.
Regarding the Côte d’Azur edition, the jury – composed of Gérard Camy (president of Cannes Cinema), Phillipe Manassero (president of CDOS06), Bernard Maccario (president of CREPS in the PACA region and president of the Friends of the National Sports Museum), and Jean Gérard Guarino (vice-president of Panathlon) – reviewed 308 candidate films, of which 22 were selected, 10 finalists, and 6 winners in different categories.
A special jury prize will be awarded to the clip produced by the TNN of Nice titled “When the young eagles reinterpret Shakespeare.”
Two “Guirlande d’Honneur” awards will be presented by FICTS at the 2018 edition of this event: one to CDOS 06 and the other to the basketball club Olympic Antibes Juan Les Pins (OAJLP) for its film “Semper vivens,” which traces the hundred-year history of this sport in this city.
The award ceremony at the National Sports Museum will take place in the presence of the FICTS president, Mr. Franco Ascani, a member of the IOC’s culture and heritage commission.
Yelena Isinbayeva (a member of the International Olympic Committee and double Olympic gold medalist in pole vaulting) will receive the award in the “Olympic Film” category for her biopic titled “The Third.”
