It is by far the most common type of business in the city and understandably so, as regular tourism and a dense economic activity make restaurants the most widespread commercial activity in Nice.
There are, of course, restaurants catering to all tastes and flavors, such as Italian, Indian, Niçoise, Chinese, or traditional cuisines. Today, there are more than a thousand restaurants and other food outlets (snack bars, fast food…) serving the Nice clientele between lunch and dinner.
Indeed, renowned establishments have a regular and sometimes even loyal clientele, but for newcomers, the same problem arises: how to make themselves known to their prospective customers?
Each one has their own method for conveying information and “enticing” passers-by. Some opt for advertising in the press, word of mouth, or even leaflets and posters.
Others have chosen the web and created a website to showcase their establishment and all their services.
“I chose to build a website so one can find the ambiance of the restaurant online. It also serves as a contact space for some of our customers who are not from the region,” says Chef Daniel Silvetti from Lu Fran Calin restaurant. He explains that sometimes customers come to his restaurant through the website, www.lufrancalin.com, which he has had online for a few years.
“I wanted it to reflect the image of the restaurant, so it needed to showcase the cuisine, friends, merchants and a few extra touches that reflect who we are. I also opted for the web because once constructed, the website can be used as we wish, and today it’s featured on multiple search engines and culinary directories.” Indeed, Daniel mentions that having his site on various search engines has significantly increased his clientele, especially occasional customers like vacationers, conference attendees, and businesspeople who increasingly use the Internet to prepare for their visit to Nice.
